⚠️ The EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) valve is probably the most common faulty component we see.Often the EGR becomes blocked with carbon from the exhaust s
I thought doing the EGR delete, ECU tune and intake manifold cleaning would take care of all those issues in one maintenance blitz. I'm not against leaving the EGR valve in place, especially if it doesn't cause intake issues. The assumption these intakes gummed up was the primary reason to explore the EGR delete.
The EGR valve on these vehicles is designed to redirect a portion of the vehicles exhaust gases back to the engine through the intake manifold. Carbon rich recirculated exhaust gasses enter the EGR valve before the intake manifold, over time Carbon deposits gather in the EGR valve and can interfere with the operation of the EGR valve flap and
The coolant hose that goes from the side of the cylinder head to the EGR cooler can be bypassed. Instead of going to the EGR cooler, connect the hose from the cylinder head to the plastic "Tee" that's in front of the tandem pump. Normally that "Tee" connects to the other side of the EGR cooler (small hose). Audi,VW 1.9TDI EGR valve cleaning, passat,golf,audiA4,A6 how to clean egr valve PO400,polo 1.4 tdi egr valve clean.
First, the pressure of the exhaust gas must be relatively high, as the EGR is taking exhaust off from the manifold section in between the cylinders and the turbo. This then means that if the egr valve and bypass flap are both open, high pressure exhaust will actually displace intake air in the total air intake charge.
